Walk Your Dog Week: Day 1

Share Button

This week as National Walk Your Dog Week. Since we already walk our dogs every day, multiple times per day, we challenged ourselves to not only continue our daily walks, but to do a different walk every day.
Yesterday, on our first day of Walk Your Dog week we drove down to a neighboring farm that has a long stretch of road between a lemon grove on the left and an avocado grove on the right. We have been on this road before, but not very often. Jack and Maggie really like it because of the avocados and the opportunities for avocado eating they present.

Here’s the view up the long road.
As I mentioned, lots of avocado snacking opportunities. But I came here only because I know they aren’t tending this grove very well and there aren’t too many avocados growing. Doesn’t stop Jack from looking.

I wonder if this warning applies to dogs eating the avocados? Careful Jack.

Once at the top of the road, there is another farm to the left. They’ve planted rows and rows of something we couldn’t recognize until we got closer. Blueberries! How cool. We will have to come back in a few months and see how they are doing.
On the way back, they are usually much more settled and walk side by side like this.
Until there’s a pile of debris they have to check out.
And how is it that Maggie always comes away looking like this? With a bunch of goop on her face…Whatever, doesn’t bother her as long as she’s out walking.
Don’t forget National Walk Your Dog Week – get out and walk your dog and yourself – it’s good for both of you. We will be posting more photos of our walks this week on Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram, so check them out.

  4. Emily says she wants that avocado theft sign for our fridge. I made the mistake of eating the last one!

  5. As long you don’t look suspicious when you are swiping the avocados, you should be fine! BOL! I can grow avocados from the pits but they don’t produce. Is it just the pit that is poisonous to dogs?

    • I don’t really know, but all of my dogs have eaten them – Sally would eat the whole things, pit and all. I try to keep them away, but when you live in avocado country, it’s impossible.

  6. That looks like a fun place to walk, as long as no one (Jack) gets arrested. 🙂 When those blueberries are out, he might want to sample some of those too!

  7. Fun! I love the pic of Maggie at the end. No matter what, Ace always ends up with a bunch of drool and whatever else on his face as well.

Wow, Sally even ate the avocado pits? That would make me nervous. Beamer won’t even do that! 🙂 He likes the rest of the avocado though!
