This ‘N That Thursday

It’s been busy over at SlimDoggy this week, what with Walk Your Mutt Monday and Pet Obesity Awareness Day and our usual FitDog Friday to prepare for. We’ve got so many loose ends to tie up. We had a Dear Labby post we were going to put up, but wanted to wrap up some outstanding notices first…

Kelowna_sm1. On this month, our Mover of the Month prize is going to be a Head-Lite LED collar. This is a great prize and we are definitely ordering one each for Jack & Maggie. They are great light-up collars that work with two small batteries – but just look at how much they light up. We run our dogs early in the morning and it’s still dark out nowadays, so these will be excellent…I know it wouldn’t be fair if we WIN one, but YOU can. Get on over to, register and start recording your dog’s daily activities to collect PAWS and a chance to win one of these great collars.

2. We’ve got books from three of our Blogger friends that we want to read & review, we just haven’t had time to read them yet, but we will we promise. The books are:

Soon – I promise.

jackinthepeppers3. I’ve been meaning to post this picture of the pepper field at the end of our street – you may remember a few months ago when they planted it and Jack was hoping for bacon.  Well it’s not bacon, but they are peppers and some are even starting to turn red. And look at how tall they’ve gotten. Unfortunately, they’ve been spraying them lately, so we haven’t gotten to close to them to get a picture of them red – we will try this weekend.

slimdog_024.  I hope you all saw the SlimDoggy on Pet Obesity Infographic we created for Pet Obesity Awareness Day. It was so much fun we are doing a SECOND one on tips and success stories from our friends & readers. We’re going to call it SlimDoggy Fit Tips. We are gathering stories, photos, tips etc. on how you keep (or are getting) your dog fit. We’re going to compile a giant Infographic of everyone’s tips (with proper attribution of course) and then we will share it with everyone. Have you got a great before/after picture, or a good trick you use to keep your dog fit – put it in the comments below or email us at

We’re joining up with 2 Brown Dawgs for This ‘N That Thursday Blog Hop!

  1. All great updates! I’m so into the head-lites collar – gotta get one for Kayo. Our after work hikes are getting darker and darker!

  2. Now with it being darker out and three dogs walking, Mom’s reflective vest may not do the trick, so we have to invest in some collars so we are seen. Thank you for mentioning my book, appreciate it 🙂 It is light, easy and fun reading, a quick book. Time for our walk…in the dark…

  3. Bummer! I had a head-lites collar. I should have offered to you or BoingyDog – we all have big dogs so it would have probably fit great. I returned it to Joanna on Monday 🙁

Next time I have something I won’t use, I’ll definitely pass it on to my friends!

  7. It’s been a great week, hasn’t it? So much going on! I loved the first infographic and am looking forward to the next one too (excited we’ll be on it)!
I always love your photos of the gardens in your area…even though they make my own little garden look kind of pathetic. 🙂
It’s so hard to find time to read, isn’t it? Luckily I had a vacation recently so I was able to finally finish Jackie’s book, and I hope to have my review up tomorrow. I have another book review next week, and then I need to get Emma’s and Peggy’s books! Whew!

    • Wait…that’s the wrong way – it should be fat before and fit after…glad you’re getting over to PetsMove. We’re looking for success stories that we can track over time and maybe get on TV. Check out the Get on TV section.

  9. Haha funky collar… the infographic is interesting… I agree with the dogwalking… I have not walk as much or as long every day before I got a dog 🙂 Definitely great for getting the human into a fitness routine 🙂

  10. Thanks so much for participating in TNT! I am back from vacation and still catching up. I will probably be skipping around for a bit.

I won a copy of Jackie’s book and took it with me on vacation but never even opened it. The weather was so beautiful I wanted to be out and about. I guess that is what winter in Michigan is for. 🙂

I still need to find time to go to Petsmove and look around. The light up collar looks cool.
