SlimDoggy Wishes Come True?

Jack makes a wish.

I don’t know if Jack or Maggie have ever seen snow. I know we haven’t seen it in our corner of California in the 20 years we’ve been here, other than in the distance on the mountain tops. I’m not sure how they would react. Given how Maggie reacted to the rain we got this week (running around, rolling in the grass, playing with the raindrops), I think she would like it.

Jack, “Mr. NothingPhasesMe”, would probably be un-phased, but he might be like this:

How does your dog react to the snow?

  1. As you know, we just love it. The cold and snow make us really wild early in the season! Finding a spot to go to the bathroom is rough the first few walks each year, but then we remember how it works with snow. I bet Jack and Maggie would love it.

  2. Eko loves bounding in some good powder and I’m pretty excited to see Penny during her first snow storm. I have a feeling she’ll love it too.

  3. Oh, I have never seen snow either but I love the cooler weather so I am thinking I may enjoy the snow. Though on second thought, I hate to be wet so maybe not. Happy WW

  6. We (Belinha and Moleque) have only ever seen snow once, at first we didn’t want to go outside but then we realised it was really fun to play in. We hope we get some more this year as Nina hasn’t ever seen snow and we want to watch her slide around it ! Happy WW!

  7. Roxy doesn’t like it, she gets to cold now. Torrey….Ya she LOVES it!

  8. Snow is great when it’s falling. Harley will play outdoors for a very long time and then just like a kid – he will take long hard REM naps by the fireplace afterwards. Two days later it’s nasty and dirty and you just want it to go away. So to me – it’s highly over rated after the first 24 hours. However – it definitely is something to experience at least once in your lifetime. Come on over to Doodleville for a romp in the snow anytime you want – you’re always welcome, we’ll leave the porch light on for you 🙂

    • I agree – that first day is great…and any snow before Christmas is also good. After that…not so much. Thanks for the invite!

  9. Honey loves the snow. I find many dogs so.

I suspect that dogs are stimulated by all the motion of the snowflakes. After all, dog eyesight is much more attuned to motion than human eyesight.

  10. We’ve had a teeny bit of snow (which has mostly turned to ice) on the ground for a few days (rare around here) and the dogs haven’t stopped being thrilled about it, sniffing, digging and playing.

  11. We just got a dusting of snow here too…Kilo isn’t a fan.

  12. We are in the shape predicament as y’all. It snows every 5-6 years for about a half an inch and we all freak out! Bentley loved catching snowballs though. Thank you for the birthday wishes. ☺

  13. Boomer and Dottie really like snow, when they were younger they would spend all day in it if I let them but now that they are seniors they have calmed down a bit.

  14. Jack be careful with your wishes :o) Snow is horrible… you get cold paws and icicles on your ears… the only good thing is, that you can write your name in the snow :o)

  15. Sampson LOVES the snow, he romps and runs and often times just likes to sit outside in it.

Delilah could care less one way or the other. She’s typically not an outside dog unless I’m there with her and then most times she just wants to go in the house unless we are doing something.

Sampson will run like that black lab and stick his nose in the early spring water of a brook that runs along side our field. He then comes out covered in mud. It’s the cutest thing.

  16. We took our guys up to the mountains where we keep our snow many years ago.
They took some sniffs and spent the rest of the day in the car.

  21. Ace loves to roll in the snow! He hasn’t seen snow in more than a year now. And while he loves swimming and even playing with the hose water, he is not thrilled about this rain!

  22. Laika absolutely loves the snow. She has sensitive feet though so we have to be careful and make sure she’s got her boots or some wax on. It doesn’t phase her though – she would play enthusiastically in the snow for hours even if her feet were severely chapped. It does make exercise awesome; she loves catching snowballs and when we play fetch or frisbee in the snow she’s getting a much better workout due to the traction. We love the snow. I’m sure Jack & Maggie would probably love it, too. I think a winter trip out east might be something to consider.. 🙂

    • We could actually just go back up to Big Bear where we spent our summer vacation. They have a huge ski center up there, so lots of snow.

  23. Ginger absolutely loves the snow! Unfortunately, we don’t get too much of it here in Texas, so she doesn’t get to play in it too often.

  24. OH!!! Would you ever LOVE it! SNOW is the best thing in the world. After all, it is just frozen water, and I love water! Drinking it…swimming in it….the list goes on! You are invited any time to come and play in my snow in Western New York! We usually have some to spare!
