SlimDoggy Family Mischief
Today’s post is about SlimDoggy’s cousin Taj. Taj is a weimaraner and we’ve written about her mischief before here, about her hunting regime here and posted a puppy picture of her here.
Taj retired from hunting this year when she turned 10 and not only is she missing her hunting, she has been having some problems with pneumonia, so we are wishing her a speedy recovery and thought a post dedicated to her skillful mischief would cheer her up.
Taj got a new toy recently – one of those ‘mental’ toys designed for them to figure out how it works and then get the treats. It looked like a good sturdy toy. The Amazon record states: The rip ‘n tug Lotus is a stimulating, reward-based toy. Constructed of durable fabric, it utilizes hook and loop fasteners as a closure mechanism.
My sister says it took her about 30 seconds to figure it out and then this happened:
Nothing like a new toy to make you forget you are sick!
Obviously, we didn’t get paid to endorse this product, but I did order one for Jack, so I’ll let you know how he makes out with it.
We are joining the Monday Mischief Blog Hop! This hop is hosted by Snoopy’s Dog Blog, Alfie’s Blog and My Brown Newfies
Taj sure seems spunky with her new toy….didn’t take her long!
She’s spry for her age.

What a beautiful weimaraner – so sorry to hear she’s been sick – but her new toy sure look like it cheered her up …. Weim’s are so food driven …. nothing can stop the hunt for food – and the need to destruct ! funny girl …… hope she’s feeling better soon.
She is a beauty for sure.

Taj was given this gift by one of her best buddies – a Rhodesian Ridgeback named Mason. Seems that Mason’s mom said he had some difficulty in figuring it out – so she thought Taj might enjoy it ! Mason was a little upset to hear of how fast Taj found the treat – Mason’s mom left me a voice mail that just because Taj found the treat in 30 seconds, didn’t mean she that was smarter than Mason 🙂 ……
Im happy to report that Taj is on the mend – I was able to capture some of the mucus she coughed up and they tested it for various infections – and thankfully we hope she is now on the right antibiotics and will kick this pneumonia once and for all. She sure seems just fine …. but still has 10 + days of medicine to go. Thankful for the wonders of modern medicine.
Jack is so glad she’s feeling better.

Ha ha ha! That is not the best endorsement, but I have a feeling it’s what would happen here!

Mom gave up on believing anything about toys being tough enough for all dogs. It usually isn’t the case. No matter what, you always have to keep an eye on the toy to see if it is going to come apart or not. We just got a tough duck. The duck itself is tough, but Bailie came running over with a mouth full of wing material in about ten minutes. Mom cut the rest of the wings off and now it is a pretty safe toy.

If we leave someone with the puzzle toys, once they are empty, similar things happen here!

Yeah, Taj is all business.

I have a feeling that rip and tug would last around here about as long as Ducky’s Kong Wubbas! LOL

Maybe Taj should unretire and then she’d feel better OR maybe she needs a part-time job just to keep her mind sharp.

Yikes, those toys that can’t withstand chewing are so common and definitely a big risk! I’m currently staying with family and their naughty little schnoodle has been having a great time chewing Christmas decorations and yesterday managed to consume 200g of chocolate from under the Christmas tree! He is a lovely dog, but loves to chew. I hope he likes his puzzle for Christmas, there are moving parts where you can hide treats, and it seems to be chew-proof…I think!
I feel like we’re the odd ones out with no destroyed toys in our house…
Be thankful!

It is not Taj’s fault that she is simply more intelligent than the average canine! Bentley sends healing drool her way. Hope everyone has a great Christmas with a lot of extra durable toys and tasty treats!
Thanks – she is feeling better with her medication. Merry Christmas!

Cute! Love when dogs close their eyes to really dig in to the chewing. Gotta focus! Rita is not much of a destroyer, so that would probably last with her!
