    • Maggie is pretty trustworthy and doesn’t stray to far from my side, so she can be trusted for short periods off-leash.

  10. So jealous! It looks lovely. The smile on Maggie’s face says it all. Does she walk beside you? Besdie Jack? Or behind you? I never asked, but was wondering. Daisy’s safe spot is behind me so even when we walk on leash I have one hand in front holding Jasper and Cupcake’s leashes and one behind holding Daisy’s. 🙂

    • Interesting – Maggie frequently walks directly behind me – usually when we’re kind of in the zone and just walking. SHe also wanders a bit to the side and in front, but her favorite spot is directly behind me.

      • So interesting. Cupcake does this too. I have come to believe that is is a safety thing for them. Beating behind everyone ensures no one can come up and grab you from behind. It allows them to get away before they can be caught. Maybe mill dogs do this as a normal safety measure. Makes me wonder. We learn so much from them don’t we?

        • I think there is definitely something to the ‘being behind everyone’. Maggie is very cautious about that – always comes into the house last, always looks behind her if she’s going into a room or hallway. She would really like to have eyes in the back of her head.
