Senior Pet Resources

November is Senior Pet Adoption Month. We love our two seniors Jack & Maggie and love to help promote senior adoption as much as we can. Taking care of a senior dog and ensuring their health and fitness does require a little extra diligence. This month, in honor of senior pet month, we plan to collect all of the recent & useful senior pet articles that we can and add them here to our Senior Pet Resources page. If you know of any helpful senior pet articles that we should add, please send them our way.

I’ll be organizing these posts into a few categories:

  • Health
  • Exercise
  • Nutrition
  • Adoption
  • Fun

  1. It’s a great way to promote the seniors :o) I hope for a lot new homes for pets who are a little older. Seniors are great and to share heart&crib with one of them is just fabulous!

  6. So many great resources here thank you for compiling them like this; such an easy way to find some great reads. And thanks for including us 🙂 I really can’t say enough positive things about senior dogs – every time I go to volunteer they’re the ones I gravitate towards instantly – they’re so loving and kind. Instant best friends. Love seeing all the dedication that’s going into these often forgotten canine companions – they deserve the best in their golden years.

  12. I don’t know of articles about it but our past seniors have adored playing “brain games”. One, who we adopted at age 10, loved being clicker trained and learned all kinds of tricks in his senior years. We felt that it was a great way to make his life brighter during the phase when he couldn’t do as much physical exercise as when he was younger. I’ll look around to see if I can find any articles about it.

    • That’s a great idea – they can still use their brains even if their body isn’t cooperating like it used to.
