Q and A with Keepdom.com

keepdomlogogreyI was recently contacted by the founders at Keepdom.com, a new site that provides tools that help pet care professionals grow their businesses quickly and effectively.   They have an interesting concept, one that enables dog walkers and other pet care providers to easily create a viable digital presence without having to build a website.  Below is an edited transcript from our conversation.

SlimDoggy: What exactly is Keepdom.com?

Keepdom: We are an LA based startup that is building a set of tools to help pet care professionals, and in particular dog walkers, build and grow their businesses.  With just a few clicks, our clients can create a digital profile describing their service, their experience and availability, their rates, and more.

SlimDoggy:  Sounds a little like Facebook?

Keepdom: Not really.  Facebook is very limited in terms of format and it is more conducive to ever- evolving, short post timelines.  Think of us more like a mini-website for pet service providers, without the hassle of getting a domain and designing a site from scratch.

SlimDoggy: Ah, that makes sense.  How did you come up with the idea?

Keepdom: Adi, (one of the founders) used to work at Google, where he was able to bring his dog into the office each day.  When he moved to the LA area to work for Savings.com, he was not able to do that and experienced firsthand how difficult it was to find, vet, and hire a reliable dog walker to take care of his dog Keep (hence the name Keepdom).  His frustration led him to solve this problem by starting Keepdom.

SlimDoggy: Can you tell us a little about how the service works?

Keepdom: Sure.  Service providers create a profile on keepdom.com using our template.  The template allows for a quick setup and captures essential information that a potential client would want to know like experience, rates, and of course, location.  Once saved, the service provider gets their own unique URL under the keepdom domain—something like: keepdom.com/simdoggysteve  for example.  The profile is now viewable by potential and current clients.  This can all be done in a matter of minutes.  No reason to struggle with creating a website when you can do it all at Keepdom.

SlimDoggy: How much does it cost to use?

Keepdom: That’s the best part.  It is free to use.  We are planning on having a premium, paid version, which will include many other benefits including insurance.  But whether you choose the free or paid version, you can get your online profile completed and your very own URL in a matter of minutes.

SlimDoggy: Can you tell us more about your founding team?

Keepdom:  Our founding team consist of Adi (Product), Kuldeep (Sales and Marketing), Mike (Tech) and Juan (Business Development). We are all experienced in the technology space albeit in different roles.  We are also dog lovers!  We even named our Company after Adi’s dog “Keep”, now 4 year old Shiba Inu.

SlimDoggy:  As you know, we are adamant that dog’s need to get proper exercise in order to live long and healthy lives.  Although Keepdom is not explicitly meant to address this, I like the fact that you are helping dog owners find and vet dog walkers, who, by definition, are ensuring that the dog gets some exercise.  For this reason alone, we wish you the best of luck and hope that our readers will spread the word.
