New Puppy in the Family

The SlimDoggy extended family welcomed a new puppy a few months ago. We’ve written about my sisters dog’s Taj and Tally. Her stepson and his wife recently adopted a great little pup from the pound, so we are proud to introduce PEPPER!
Pepper is just four months old, but already getting into some mischief. It seems like he’s learned something from reading his Uncle Jack’s Blog. He’s quite proud of his gardening expertise, just like Uncle Jack. Just look at that muddy face and paws!
Pepper has two cat brothers, Azul and Niño. He’s not too sure about them, and they are not too sure about him either, but they will work it out in the end. Here’s Pepper with cat brother, Azul.
We will write more about Pepper as he grows up, but first a little contest. We got this idea from our friends at Wag ‘N Woof who did a DNA test on their dog Luke a few months ago. Well, Pepper has had a DNA test too, and you’ll never guess what it came back as. If anyone guesses right, we have a SlimDoggy hat and bandana to give away. What do you think Pepper is? I’ll give you a hint, no Lab, no pitbull…

We are joining up with the Monday Mischief Blog Hop, hosted by Snoopy’s Dog Blog, Alfie’s Blog and My Brown Newfies

  2. Those were my two guesses, I bet some terrier and….

  3. Pepper is so adorable! I don’t know what the breed is…. 100% cute?! lol. Okay, that’s probably cheating. Maybe a ridgeback?

  4. What? No lab? With those gardening skills? Well, when I first saw that face, Hungarian Vizsla came to mind but I don’t know what else.

  5. Aww good digging skills! I agree with Bethany I thought maybe a Vizsla! I’m not good with large dog breeds. I don’t know many. I’m excited to find out.

  6. Cute little fellow. So far, none of us are real diggers and Mom hopes it stays that way. GBGV’s are supposed to dig but I never did much of that and Bailie hasn’t taken to it…yet.

  9. Pepper is s super cute pup. I like his work in the garden, maybe he will work on the world-tunnel together with me?

    • The world tunnel sounds like a great idea. I think both Jack & Pepper would be interested.

  10. Adorable new pall! Okay I’ll guess…although I see no ridge on his back, that coloring reminds me of Rhodesian Ridgeback.

No matter what he is, he is definitely adorable!!!!!

  17. i am Pepper’s dad and it is a lot of fun reading all these great guesses….we had some of the same thoughts and were very surprised. the results were even more surprising considering that he came from a small town in NC with population 20,000…

  18. What a stinkin cute horticulturist in training! That coloring looks pretty familiar, so I’m going to guess part Ridgeback or Vizsla.

    • Good guess Eko – he does look a little like your new sister…but I’m not saying you are right 🙂

  19. Mastiff and Rhodesian? I’m really bad with breeds. He’s awfully cute.

  22. Pepper is adorable. Could he be Lab and Chihuahua? It seems like every dog lately is part Chihuahua?

  27. I love that you’re doing the guessing game, and thanks for crediting us! Pepper is adorable (I love his eyes). Thanks for ruling out the first two breeds I probably would have guessed! I am going to say Weimeraner and Golden Retriever. Luke is a digger too….so maybe Pepper also has some kind of dachshund in him?

    • It was such a cool idea & game. Some good guesses, so far, but nobody has gotten it…

  28. Hmm… When I look at him, I’m seeing Vizla or Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. But you never know what those tests will throw in. I did one with my mixed breed dog- who was pretty darn obviously a big mix of two breeds- and it came back with some pretty outlandish breeds in her makeup. They’re still awfully fun to do, though!

    • They are fun. We did one on our Tino and we were really surprised at the results.
mkob recently posted…New Puppy in the FamilyMy Profile

  29. What a handsome pup! His eyes are sooo crystal clear and intelligent (almost like Husky eyes!), could he have some Boxer and Beagle in him?

  31. I’m going to guess retriever and ridgeback? She looks alot like our ridgeback did when she was a puppy but I didn’t see a ridge so that is where the retriever comes in. What ever she is, she is adorable and I’m sure your nephew and his wife are thrilled with her gardening skills!
