National Walk Your Dog Week

We’re excited to be participating once again in National Walk Your Dog Week. National Walk Your Dog Week was founded in 2010 by Celebrity Pet Lifestyle Expert and Animal Advocate, Colleen Paige, to bring awareness to the ever increasing problem of canine behavior issues and canine obesity in America.

You all know our mission to fight pet obesity, so promoting fitness, whether it’s running, biking or walking is second nature to us. We exercise our dogs every single day. Yes, every. single. day. They get either a run or a walk and sometimes multiple walks. We have always done that with our dogs from my first dog, Maxine, then Sally, Tino, Becca, Jack & Maggie. That’s a lot of walking. Last year we wrote a post tallying up the number of miles we’ve walked with our dogs, and we also asked our readers to share their favorite walks and got some great photos.

This year, we’re happy to be joining the Walk Your Dog Blog Hop being sponsored by our friends at MyGBGV Life and Cascadian Nomads. They’ve got a great giveaway going on, so be sure and check it out. They are asking everyone to commit to a daily walk with their dogs for the week, but since we already do that, we are going to commit a different walk every day.

That will be harder than you think as we typically go to the large open area park at the bottom of our street. It’s close, has two routes that are a good length for our morning walk and we don’t usually encounter any “off leash” challenges if you know what I mean. But, Jack and Maggie love new adventures, so in honor of Walk Your Dog Week, we plan to find new and different walks to take each day and report on them throughout the week.

We’ll post photos here, on Facebook and on Instagram, so be sure and check it out and add your photos of your walks with your dog to our album.

Have fun! Join the Walk Your Dog Blog Hop below:

  2. Since we also walk everyday, we are also committing to different walks, longer walks, and/or more walks! It’s going to be a fun week (that might even build into some fun habits!) Thanks for joining us.

  3. we walk three times every day, I love it, specially now when I can hunt every leaf (that’s not easy with the humanoid kite on the other side of the leash, but I do my best)

    • Three walks a day is excellent Easy – that’s why you always look so trim and fit!

  4. We would love to have all our miles for a year, but I don’t think we would ever be able to keep track. Since we often do things separately, it would be three totals or Mom would have to choose just one of us, but that wouldn’t be fair. It would be a fun project, though.

    • You’ve probably logged a LOT more hours than us. I just ball-parked it and it was still a lot.

  9. I’m with you on this one. The familiar walks are easiest, but I like to remind myself to change things up so the routine doesn’t become boring for me or the pups.

  10. It’s Kilos favourite week!

  11. I’ve always been a dedicated dog walker. I don’t feel right without my walk and I know my dogs feel the same way. It’s great alone time, too!

  13. Walking is our thing. We walk every day. We switch it up with a different route on most days. It’s nice to have a neighborhood with lots of options!

    • It is – I have a tendency to get stuck in a rut, so this will be good for me.

  14. I usually do the same route, so I’m going to try to mix things up this week as well.

  16. Ha, that’s my idea as well. We did a couple mundane walks in the neighborhood today because my car was in the shop but tomorrow we’re out to explore a new park, really looking forward to it. I’ll be checking in on FB to see what you guys have been up to, it’s going to be fun.

  17. A cool challenge and great for the pups. I’m not sure that I can participate since I usually mountain bike with my dogs but I like this idea!
