Mischief Follow-up

Last week I wrote about a mischief escapade that had Jack & Maggie double-teaming me with Maggie acting as the decoy for Jack’s scavenging my breakfast scones.

This week, I was prepared to prevent Round 2 and when I came home from the grocery, I had my scone bag tightly sealed and took it straight into the house and set it up onto the kitchen counter. I went back out to get the second load, secure in the knowledge that my scones were safe. And they were. The rest of the grocery unloading was uneventful I’m happy to say.

So where’s the mischief?jacktumbleweed

After dinner, we took the dogs out for a walk and found we had received a Fedex package – we were excited because they don’t usually come on a Saturday and we were pleasantly surprised to see we had received our Tumbleweed & Eddies dog treats. Jack & Maggie were pretty excited about that for sure!

We opened them right up, snapped a few photos and handed out a few treats. We finished cleaning up after dinner and I put the box the treats came in out by the back door, planning to take it to the trash later and we went back into the living room to watch some TV.

Jack doesn’t follow us in as usual, instead I hear rustling and ripping and snuffling. I think uh-oh, there must have been a sample treat or something I left in the Tumbleweed box and go investigate. Sure enough there’s Jack ripping apart the papers that the treats were packaged in. There wasn’t a sample treat, no it was the morning’s scone bag that I had crumbled up and put in the box as I was cleaning the kitchen. He sniffed them out and finished off the crumbs.

Two weeks in a row Jack’s managed to get some scone – I think he’s developing a taste for cranberry-orange scones!

Once again we are joining up with the Monday Mischief Blog Hop, hosted by Snoopy’s Dog Blog, Alfie’s Blog and My Brown Newfies

  2. Never underestimate the power of the nose! BOL! I’ve had my dogs–and cats!–sniffing out things I thought were well hidden or secured.

  4. Well he has good taste at least. LOL

  5. The nose knows right? Rodrigo and Sydney have pulled not one but two pizzas off the counter. Rodrigo constantly goes counter surfing so I know it’s him that pulls it down and Sydney does the majority of the eating. We’ve learned since and keep our counters clean and keep the trash behind a locked door.

Rodrigo seems to think twice about going after things (although Sydney seems to convince him to get things down), but Sydney has no shame.

  8. Haha – Great job Jack! Good to always keep an eye on that bag, even when the humans have lost interest in it! 🙂

Is that a TAG GPS on your collar or a different one, or something different?

  11. Omigoodness. My Patches does this when the trash is full. I found a frozen egg on my bedroom carpet last week (I threw away a couple of eggs that I didn’t bring in from the hen house quickly enough and that were frozen solid). *sigh*
