Maggie’s Letter to Santa
The other day, we turned the blog over to Jack for his letter to Santa…Maggie insisted on her own time for her letter too, so here you go:
My brother Jack has asked for a freezer full of bacon for Christmas and listed all the ways he has been good this past year. I will admit, he has been pretty good – as big brothers go. He does share with me and watches out for me, so I would have to give a thumbs up to him being on the “nice list” and getting that bacon freezer he asked for.
What I would like for Christmas is a few more months, or many more months in this SlimDoggy paradise I’ve landed in. I had a tough life for the first eight years, pumping out litter after litter of puppies without much else going on in my life. But now, I have these two humans that seem intent on making me happy and feeling safe and cared for and loved – such an odd behavior, but one that I relish even though I try to pretend I don’t care.
I was feeling pretty sick a few months ago, having a really hard time walking and certainly wasn’t able to do my runs with dad or walks with mom because my leg was so sore. But the trips to those veterinary people and all the poking and prodding and lasering and shots and IVs seems to have really helped my leg and put that cancer thing on hold, at least for awhile. I am feeling pretty okay lately. So, I guess what I’d like is for dad to take me for runs over the bridge to the water so I can wade in the water again. He tells me I can only walk and the bridge is too far for us…but maybe you can make it happen Santa.
Other than that, I have to say I’m pretty pleased with what I have right now – two square meals and plenty of treats, a nice sunny backyard, walks to the park everyday, “find the food” games every night and besides, I know that my brother Jack will share that bacon freezer with me. So thanks Santa…you can give my presents to someone else, I’m pretty content.
Sincerely, your friend,
