Maggie Mischief

Our little Maggie has really turned a corner from her original fearful self to a little mischief maker. Originally she was a dog who wouldn’t leave her bed when we first got her and now, she’s as bold as brass – as the nuns used to say to me when I talked back in grammar school. She’s feeling like a dog, testing the boundaries and having a good old time doing it.

The other day, Steve took the dogs for a run and I ran down to the park to meet them. I wanted to bring my camera because they are starting to pick the peppers and of course I had to share that with everyone. They have both big trucks that just plow through ripping up the plants and then workers that follow behind separating the peppers from the stems and they also had just a group of workers picking. Here’s a few pictures.

But then I continued on past the field to meet up with Steve, Jack & Maggie and here’s what I saw. Steve and Jack running along very nicely and little miss Maggie lagging behind stopping & sniffing and sniffing & stopping. It wasn’t really a run – more of a sniff test.

But she’s a trooper and look at her catch up!

  5. LOL! People accused Mom of abusing Katie on runs because she was always behind looking like she had been forced to run fifty, not five miles, but if she saw a critter she had energy, she just never enjoyed running much. As for Maggie and her, mischief…Mom says you have to be careful what you wish for, you may have created a monster but I’m sure you don’t mind since she is happy!

    • I know we are a little to lenient with her, but its hard not to be when you are just so happy to see her doing doggie things.
      mkob recently posted…Maggie MischiefMy Profile

      • If you were less lenient with Maggie, she may not be making as much progress as she has been. I say you’re doing it “just right”…let your instincts continue to guide you.

        • Thanks – I can’t imagine being ‘stricter’ with her – she has made such wonderful progress, so we will continue to let our instincts rule.

  6. Sydney does this all the time. Rodrigo would do it too if he weren’t on a leash. When I say “Sydney Australia” she catches up.

  10. So happy to see Maggie having a great time, at her own speed! And using her nose at the same time. Love to see dogs being dogs, especially when they’re allowed to enjoy themselves!

  11. Well, maybe she is just the kind of dog that likes to stop and smell the roses….or…err…peppers 🙂 Great to see she has come out of her shell though.
