Lamb Puffs and Other Great Stuff

A few weeks ago, our friend Flea from Jones Natural Chews asked us if we’d do a product review to celebrate her Blogiversary. She’s been blogging for Jones for two years which is quite an achievement, so we were happy to help celebrate! Jack was especially happy to help out and be the taste tester for the Lamb Puffs and Beef Windee ring treats Flea offered to send. Jack can’t eat beef because of his IBD, but he can sure eat Lamb, so he was psyched. Why are we posting this in Mischief Monday? Well, just wait and see although I think you can probably guess.

Jones Natural Chews have been around for over 25 years! That’s a long time to be making such yummy treats for our pets. Everything is made in the USA and their products come from plants that are USDA certified. The company was originally a meat cutter and meat packing company founded in 1850 in Rome, New York. Many miles and eight generations later, their specialty is naturally baked dog bones and chews.

Their website has a great Frequently Asked Questions section to answer any of your questions about the treats or where you can get them. But as we know, the real evidence is on the label and on your dogs face. It’s also where the mischief comes in.

Let’s check out the label first.

You can see there is nothing processed or artificial about these Lamb Puff treats. Just one single ingredient and one that provides a great protein source as well.  For those who are inadvertently feeding their dogs a high carbohydrate food, these treats can be a great way to balance out the diet, from a macronutrient perspective.  Jones also has other great treats including  femur bones, knuckle bones, chicken strips, pigs ears and more. The full list of products along with their ingredient listings is available at Jones Natural Chews.

And what about Jack’s reaction? As promised that’s where the mischief comes in. We don’t do many product reviews, but when we do, I make Jack sit with the package so I can snap a few pictures. Then we go in the kitchen so I can open the treats and give him a sample. You can see in the photos series below, he’s sitting very politely letting me take photos and then…he catches a whiff, leans over, reads the bag, sees what it is…and that’s it, it’s all over. He rips the bag apart, grabs one and takes off. At least he left one behind for Maggie.

Jones Natural Chews get a big thumbs up from Jack & Maggie.

  1. One of my favorite things about Jones Natural Chews is that their products often have literally one ingredient, as is the case with these lamb puff treats. I have been happy with the products Ace has tried from the company. And congrats to Flea on her two year blogging anniversary!

  6. Jack! You bad boy! You only left ONE LUNG for Maggie? Gentlemen do not gobble up all the treats, no matter how good they are. Such mischief! Glad you liked them, though. 😉

  10. That’s some fast camera work to catch the treats before Jack does his thing.

I can’t bring Jones Treats into the house without Honey taking immediate notice. But even she isn’t as fast as Jack.

  11. We were thrilled to meet Flea and the other great people from Jones at BlogPaws. She is so sweet and has a great job. She gets to play with dogs from everywhere. My boys loved their sample treats too! I think Jack’s patience ran out on the photo shoot. It was just too tempting.
