How do I Find a Dog Camp?

Share Button

doggiecampCanine fitness centers, doggie boot camps, canine adventure clubs & swim centers are all the rage right now. I see or read about new ones all the time. We are huge fans of these places because whether they are indoors or outdoors, for the dogs alone or for humans and canines together, they are aimed at getting your dogs fit and healthy – the same goal as SlimDoggy!

We don’t have a SlimDoggy Camp (wish we did) but we do offer a SlimDoggy Consultation service where we work with you on your dog’s diet including an analysis of your dog’s food and we create a custom fitness & feeding program that meets your fitness and weight management goals for your pups. (If you are interested, just email us at info “at” slimdoggy “dotcom”)

Since there are so many camps/centers/clubs out there, we’ve been compiling a list of of them so that you can easily locate one near you. We’ve created this list and will be expanding this database to include more information about each camp, but for now the list, with links to the facilities website and phone number should get you started.

I scoured the internet for many hours finding all these facilities, but I’m sure I missed some, if not many. If you know of another one that we should add, please let us know – again, just send an email to info “at” slimdoggy “dotcom” with CAMP in the subject line.

And in other big news, SlimDoggy is joining with Peggy’s Pet Place and To Dog With Love in co-hosting K9Kamp this year. The first challenge starts on January 24th, so be sure and come back and find out what’s up at K9Kamp. It’s a virtual event, but has all the fun and camaraderie of a real camp. Be sure to join us.

  1. Thanks so much for joining TNT! Hope you will check out my new hop coming next week. 🙂

That is a really cool list. I did not see any in Michigan and I don’t know of any either.

Best of luck with the K9 Kamp. I know it is really popular and should be fun!

  2. It’s so great of you to put this list together! Things like this make me wish we lived a little closer to the “city” because I am having trouble even finding training classes close to home! You did hit on the one I know of in our state, but that is still over an hour and a half drive for us. So we’ll just continue to do it ourselves for now….I just bought an agility tunnel!

    • Yeah, the disadvantages of being outside the city are a pain..but usually outweighed by the benefits. Can’t wait to read about the agility tunnel!

  4. You know, in Calgary there used to be at least 2 human+canines bootcamps offered for getting into shape with your dog, but once I tried to track them down for your list, it doesn’t look like either are still operational. Good idea, but maybe some are still working on making it profitable?
I’ve seen promotions for a 6 Legs to Fitness bootcamps in Calgary, but it should probably be acknowledged that it’s a Brad Pattison development. Not that I should pre-judge anything, and maybe it’s not so bad if the focus is on health and exercise and not obedience training. I dunno. Maybe industry politics shouldn’t get in the way of overall health and exercise promotions.

    • I think it can be a tough business, but it is becoming more of a trend so it might get easier. I will check out the one you mention.

      • Great job Slimdoggy. I would think it beneficial to break it down into those that are indoor, outdoor, those that strictly workout dogs, those that allow both humans and canines. Also, keep in mind, all “camps/clubs/centers” are not created equal. Do the research. We at K9 Fit Club offer certification and training programs for those who would like to begin their own dog/human fit club or camp! http://www.k9fitclub.com or email info@k9fitclub.com

        • Eventually, if we have time, we will collect more data about the various facilities. Right now, we just want folks to be aware of the great canine fitness alternatives they might have right in their own backyard.

  5. What a great list! I looked to see if any places in Wi on there. I didn’t think we had any. We have a place with a indoor pool thou that your pet can swim in and do dock jumping with.
