On our walk this morning, we ran into some pretty bold coyotes. I saw them first, luckily, and they were about 50 yards off. Usually when they see a person they scamper away, but one of them didn’t, he just sat there staring at us. I had both dogs with me, so it was three against one, but he just sat there. I snapped a couple of shots as we continued walking towards him, but he still didn’t move. Jack hadn’t seen him yet since we were walking into the sun but I knew once he got a whiff, he would be hard to control, so I decided to just turn around.
But surprisingly, the coyote started to follow us!
We quickly got back into the neighborhood and he disappeared, but I think I’ve discovered where their den is (down that gully) and it’s likely this is a mated pair and they’ve got a new litter of pups. I will have to be watchful on our early morning walks.
Have you run into coyotes this bold?
