Here’s a picture of our Becca getting laser treatment for her fused spine…and very arthritic paws. You can see in the picture how larger her paws are – it’s from her days as a service dog. You can read more about Becca in our Tale of Tails series on her.

  1. I’ll have to go read about her since we have the same name!! She does have very big paws! Bless her heart. I’ve heard wonderful things about laser therapy and something we were actually going to pursue with Teach if his leg didn’t heal and have him troubles. Happy B&W Sunday!

    • It really helped her a lot – they also had her walk on the water treadmill which helped build the muscles in her legs with low impact. I recommend it for Teach.

  2. Aw, it’s so nice that you do that for Becca. I’m curious what supplements or what you are doing for the arthritis, we’re heading into that same painful time with Foyle’s knees so I’ve been researching to see what else we can do.

    • She got the supplement Glucosomine everyday as well as fish oil. She also got acupuncture which seemed to help too. Eventually she ended up on Adequan injections and Tramadol, a pain med and Gabapentin, a nerve med – but much of that was from the pain from her fused spine, not so much the arthritis.

  3. Ah, we’re doing the exact same thing and using Tramadol when it is really bad. We finally found a place close by where he can do pool therapy and he loves to swim but every time he goes to the beach he throws his back out so this will be nice and safe. We saw a new holistic vet that suggested electromagnetic therapy to build up the cartilage but my primary holistic vet says it doesn’t work very well.

  4. Becca looks like she knows that whatever is happening will make her feel better

    • I hope so…she seemed to enjoy it – the massage part was better though I think.

  6. What a pretty girl Becca was. She looks like she was so good for those treatments. I will have to go read more about her!

    • Her training as a service dog made her a perfect little angel 99.9% of the time. The only thing she ever did was bark too much.

  10. Becca looks so much like our Shiloh that we lost almost a year ago. Went over and read about her. We are so lucky to have them in our lives and it is so hard when we have to let them go. She sounded like the perfect dog!

    • She was a sweetie. We’re glad she to to relax and enjoy her golden years with us without having to ‘work’. It took a toll on her.
