Black & White Sunday 6-2-13

This is a picture of Jack shortly after we got him, so he’s still a little chunky. He loves walking the perimeter of the yard and does his patrol at least 2-3 times a day. Not sure what he’s checking for, invasions of some sort I’m sure. Maggie has taken to doing it as well – she follows her big brother around making sure he doesn’t miss anything.

    • Oddly, Jack doesn’t seem to be a fan of the bunny poop – especially since he eats most everything else.

  2. I usually control my perimeter every time I am out in the yard…I want to know if any critters snuck in while I was away!

    • You are very conscientious Emma. Jack is a little lazy.

  3. When my guys do that, they are looking for bunny poop πŸ˜‰

    • With our Lab Sally, that was a real problem – she loved the bunny poop. Jack doesn’t seem to be a fan – not that he doesn’t imbibe on occasion.

  4. He takes his job very serious, awesome!!

    • Sometimes, sometimes he’s just looking for avocados that fell off the tree.

  5. Boomer does the same patrol everyday, several times a day!

    • The Home Guard is critical to security!

  6. Always have to go on patrol to smell who has been there. Have a great Sunday.

    • And it’s funny when they know someone new has been by – much activity ensues.

    • I don’t know, I see an awful lot of bunnies in the yard…

  9. How cute! He actually looks much better than a lot of Labs these days. Either they love food so much they are being overfed or they aren’t getting enough exercise. Probably both. I am so glad you guys are educating people on how to keep a dog healthy and a healthy weight.

    • He looks better now – although he’s still a big Lab at 85lbs. We’re glad so many people are getting on board and talking about this issue more and more.

  10. Good job, Jack! Our beagle Kobi does regular “perimeter checks” too!

  12. Jack is so lucky to have a human who understand the importance of being a slim doggy! I do the perimeter search in my yard every morning. Sometimes my daddy joins me. I’m not really sure what he’s doing. His nose is far too far from the ground. πŸ™‚

    • It’s funny – all of our dogs have done this – the males much more diligently than the females, but all do the grounds check.

  13. Frankie is very diligent about checking out our place first thing in the morning. I can always tell if we’ve been visited by any strange critters during the night! Jack looks to be in pretty good nick for most Labs in this pic. He must be looking like a Lab pin up boy if he’s thinner now!

    • Yeah, he thinks he’s ready for the cover of ‘Dog Fitness’…or maybe even ‘PlayDog’ although I don’t think mom will allow that.
