A to Z Challenge: Zoomies

Share Button

Today is the last day of our A to Z Challenge, the letter “Z”, it was an easy one, we choose ZOOMIES. Anyone who has a dog, knows what the “Zoomies” are. For those of you that don’t, zoomies are a kind of run that a dog does when they are absolutely, completely in the moment, ecstatically happy. We used to call it ‘butt-tucking’ and our Sally was a master at it. Enjoy these zooming dogs for Wordless Wednesday.

  1. That Allister is fast! Are you sure you didn’t speed up the footage? I remember being introduced to the concept of zoomies when Isis was a baby. I wish I had video.

    • I know – our Sally is the only one of our dogs that did it (the others are too old I think). Wish I had video of her.

  2. The Zoomies are the best right after dinner when we’ve been cooped up inside all day due to nasty weather. We race all over the house and then collapse in the family room like we’ve been shot – HA! It’s hilarious. Just witnessed a good one a couple of hours ago…

    • Zoomies are fun – just be sure to stay out of the way – especially with two of them going at it!

  3. Luna ALWAYS gets the zoomies right after she dries off from being wet. It is raining here a lot, so we have zoomies all the time!

  16. How fun! There is nothing wrong with being ecstatically happy 🙂 Kitties do this too actually and it appears very randomly. Normally around 2 or 3 AM they get up and just go bonkers running around the house and singing the song of their people 🙂

  20. Our dogs run. Sydney does zoomies. We can see it coming too. Her eyes get big, her ears go back and then she’s off. The look of pure joy she has as she’s burning of that energy is hard to resist. We’re slowly allowing her to zoom again now that she’s healed. We’re taking it slow and we love it.

  22. It is so much fun to watch dogs enjoying themselves so much! I love it when ours get the zoomies, except maybe when Luke gets them inside the house (I still enjoy it but cringe a little bit waiting to see if he’s going to crash into something)! And why is it, when we let him outside, he stops? LOL
